Youth Soloist Auditions Announcement
Auditions for Youth Soloists to perform with The Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra Annual Youth Concert November 2012
With the objective of connecting our youth to live performance of classical music, The Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra announces auditions for youth soloists to perform with the orchestra in its Annual Youth Concert in November 2012. The auditions will be structured as follows:
ELIGIBILITY: 1. Applicants shall reside or attend school in Ventura County. 2. Applicants shall be 18 years or younger on 15 November 2012. 3. Applicants shall be recommended for the auditions by her or his music teacher.
AUDITION SCHEDULE: 1. 29 February 2012: Due date for submittal of application and CD or DVD recording 2. Mid-March 2012: Finalists selected and announced 3. Mid-April 2012: Finalists’ live audition 4. Mid-May 2012: Winners announced
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Up to three winners of the auditions will be selected to perform a movement of a concerto, an aria or art song or one or more other types/pieces of music appropriate for performance with a chamber orchestra. The schedule is intended to provide approximately six months for preparation of the piece(s) to be performed. An application with a recording (CD or DVD) of the student performing a music selection will be submitted for the first round of auditions. The submitted recording should present a piece of music the student has ready now. Music proposed for performance with the orchestra may be a different piece. Several pieces should be proposed for final selection by the artistic director of the orchestra. The auditions and the Annual Youth Concert will be held in November 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, 1338 East Santa Clara Street, Ventura CA 93001.
